July Holidays You May Not Know About (and how to celebrate)

July Holidays You May Not Know About (and how to celebrate)

Bastille Day - July 14

Change your party hats from the Fourth, but keep your red, white and blue; in celebration of Bastille Day, July 14. Formally in France called La Fête Nationale, this holiday celebrates the beginning of the French Revolution…It's also a great excuse to eat and drink French food and wines and wear your best French fashion.

As an authentic French owned neighborhood wine bar with a full menu and an expansive wine list of varietals representing various regions of France, there’s no better place to eat and drink your way through Bastille Day than Bistro A Vin. Located in the French Quarter neighborhood of Downtown Charleston, celebrations begin at 4:00pm and last until close with traditional Bastille Day music playing all night.

From Bistro A Vin, those celebrating Bastille Day can stroll over to Made en France‘s launch party also in the French Quarter neighborhood at the Vault on King. There, Made en France will showcase French designer fashion with a raffle to win some of their favorite pieces. Those attending should dress their best to sip some Champagne provided by Bistro A Vin and enjoy macaroons all in good company and French culture for a fabulous evening.

National Tequila Day - July 24

Mex 1 Coastal Cantina is introducing Herradura Ultra to their menu of all 100% agave premium tequilas just in time for National Tequila Day, July 24. Grab some friends and drop in on NTD at either location for $5 Mex 1 Margaritas and half priced select tequila specials all day long, then kick back with a flight of Herradura tequilas including a sample of Herradura Ultra for the release party from 6:30 – 8:30pm that night.

Distilled in the small town of Amatitán, Jalisco, Mexico, Herradura Ultra is an Anejo and Extra Anjeo blend, combining tequilas aged in oak barrels for up to 49 months which are then stripped of color by the distillery’s proprietary filtration method for a clear superpremium tequila. Its smooth notes of vanilla, caramel, wood and toasted almonds, finishes with a hint of blue agave nectar.

Tequila specials, $5 Mex 1 margaritas and National Tequila Day celebrations will be held at both Mex 1’s Sullivan’s Island and Charleston locations. And soon the North Mount Pleasant community can enjoy Mex 1’s premium selection of agave tequilas in their own neighborhood – The newest location, 1109 Park West Blvd, slated to open in late August.
