What’s Happening in Charleston: JUNE

Negroni Week (June 4-10) Negroni Week is a week-long celebration of the Negroni cocktail with a charitable element, which makes you feel better about having that extra bevy. A traditional Negroni cocktail is made with Campari, gin and vermouth, but each participating venue will produce their own variation. Each participating venue donates a portion of their negroni cocktails to a nonprofit organization of their choosing. The ten venues this year include Henrietta’s, The Gin Joint, Edmund’s Oast and The Grocery. For information on participating bars, visit: https://negroniweek.com/venues/

Toast to Spoleto (June 7) Toast to Spoleto is hosted by The Local Palate in celebration of the closing of another successful year of Spoleto. This years' will have a performance by Italian opera Pia de’ Tolomei. There will be several award-winning chefs and purveyors preparing bites to pair with Italian wines and cocktails. Rosé on Hutson Alley (June 9) Yes way, rosé! Held on Hutson Alley, the restaurants of Holy City Hospitality will host the event of my dreams involve rosé, rosé and of course more rosé. If that is not enough there will be small bites, artisanal cheeses, charcuterie and dessert to accompany the pretty pink beverages. The Victor Social Club will also be serving frosé pops (which is always the answer to a hot summer day). There will also be live music to set the scene. FAB Workshop (June 10-12) FAB is an incredible workshop that is created for women in the hospitality industry by women in the industry. With the food and beverage industry still being male dominated this workshop gives women in the field the opportunity to have a leg up and learn insight and skills to further their careers. Founder Randi Weinstein has put together a panel of highly respected speakers that include Dana Cowin (former editor-in-chief of Food & Wine Magazine), Barbara Lynch (James Beard winning chef), Nina Compton (James Beard finalist and Top Chef finalist), Katie Button (executive chef of Curate and Nightbell in Asheville) as well as many other incredible restaurant owners, executives of hospitality groups and just all around amazing women.
