8 Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day without a Brunch Reservation

Charlestonians love their brunch and on any given Sunday it can be difficult to get a table at your favorite spot. With Mother’s Day being this Sunday, if you have not already made your reservations be prepared to wait or check out these alternatives to treating mom to brunch.

Floral Arranging Class

I would imagine this week is like the Olympics for florists with it being both Mother’s Day and high season for weddings. Give the florist a break and arrange your own bouquet with one of several flower workshops taking place on Mother’s Day.

King Street Collective, an art and event space will be hosting floral arranging workshops at 11 am and again at 3 pm. Light bites and sparkling beverages will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own snacks and refreshments as well. The class is $60 for individuals and $100 for two. Tickets and more information can be found, here: https://www.facebook.com/events/190336954928756/

Roadside Blooms, a highly respected wedding florist in Charleston, will also be hosting a floral arranging workshop on Mother’s Day. Their seasoned florists will provide instruction and inspiration and attendees will have access to locally grown blooms. Pastries, coffee and mimosa fixings (bring your own bubbles) will be served. The class is $65 for individuals and $110 for two Tickets and more information can be found, here: https://www.roadsideblooms.com/events/mamas-mimosas

Candlefish Workshops are one of my favorite activities because I think that it’s actually a really great deal. Candlefish candles typically retail for $22 and with the workshop you get the opportunity to create two of your own customized candles and have a fun experience with mom. The class is BYOB, but all glassware is provided. The class is $65 and gives you 15% off all other merchandise purchased the same day. The earlier two classes have already sold out, but there are still spots available 6pm (for now). Tickets and information can be found, here: https://www.candlefish.com/collections/charleston-workshops/products/charleston-mothers-day-workshop

Anders Ruff Workshop is a woodworking workshop that hosts classes regularly, for Mother’s Day the workshop located in Mt Pleasant will be hosting a Mimosas, Muffins workshop where participants have the opportunity to build their own plank wood sign, lazy susan, jewelry organizer or set of picture frames. This a perfect class for moms that are obsessed with Fixer Upper. As the name of the event suggests muffins and mimosas will be provided. The class ranges in price between $40 to $100 depending on the project you choose. Tickets and information can be found, here: https://www.arworkshop.com/mtpleasant/events/mothersday-crafternoon/
